I have never had a cat like him. He was always cheerful, affectionate, and so connected.

I adopted him from The Rescue House through Petco in April 2016. When our eyes met, that was it.

“Oh, my, do you want to be my cat?”

Little charmer rolled over on his back and bent his paw at me. Lost. I was lost.

I had to teach him how to play. He learned he could sit in my lap (he’s big, so he draped over either side) and purr. I was so delighted when he finally chose to sleep on the bed with me.

He helped me with my clients! He would rest on their chakra that needed work, or stretch out next to folks to help them feel safe.

When we had to shift to outdoor sessions in 2020, he genuinely missed being part of the action. He’d yowl from inside the house.

I couldn’t let him out. His inner thug would surface, and he would find another cat to jump. Yep, he had his dark side.

Drew was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease and high blood pressure in June 2023. CKD is unfortunately common in senior cats, although I understand it’s showing up in kittens now. Treatment is varied. There is no cure – yet.

He was pretty stable for over a year, then started dropping weight and doing less. Over the last month he declined rapidly.
